Jaylin's Story

Who Am I?

Originally from the small town of Valley, Alabama, I found my home for six years at Auburn University, where I earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration (Marketing) in December 2016, followed by a Master of Arts in Communication and Journalism in May 2019.

My career has been rooted in purpose-driven work, from higher education to nonprofit communications, where I've focused on storytelling, strategy, and advocacy. Most recently, I had the privilege of leading communications at the Women's Foundation of Alabama, advancing economic opportunity and equity for women across the state.

Now based in Birmingham, I’m seeking new opportunities to apply my skills in a role that amplifies impact and drives meaningful change.

I am passionate about people, politics, and the power of communication. I believe in doing all the good I can, for all the people I can, in all the ways I can. Alabama is home, and I’m committed to serving and uplifting this place for years to come—while also working to create lasting change on a national scale.

THAT IS A GREAT QUESTION.

"If there were 3 words I could use to describe Jaylin Goodwin when it comes to work they would be composed, persistent and knowledgeable. She continually shows these character traits on an everyday basis. Describing Jaylin as a friend, I would say that she is also a lovable motivator. She is the type of person that brings positive change into every setting or to every person she comes into contact with. "

"Jaylin is engaging, focused, and hard-working.  She is passionate about a variety of topics and has a sincere desire to learn.  As a student leader and now graduate student, Jaylin is committed to women’s leadership.  I have seen, first-hand, Jaylin’s work in empowering Auburn women and others in the state to broaden their networking skills, and enhance their professional and personal development.  She is a skilled leader and a mentor to many.  I am confident in her ability to succeed in her chosen career."

"Whenever I serve on a team with Jaylin Goodwin, I know the project will be of a high caliber. I’ve seen her conceptualize a project and bring it to fidelity. If she did not currently posses the needed skill, Jaylin would pore over every resource and absorb the knowledge needed to get the job done. She also is a strong leader who knows how to curate and cultivate talent. Every team needs a Jaylin Goodwin."

"As the manager of my university-wide campaign for Auburn’s homecoming queen, Jaylin executed great transparency and communication among our staff of 50+. Her organizational and delegating skills brought my vision to life, allowing us to raise awareness and hundreds of dollars in funds for Lee County’s underprivileged youth in only one week. In a personal capacity, Jaylin upholds the highest standards of integrity and is uniquely gifted at motivating others to action."

"Jaylin is among the most intellectually curious and contemplative people I know; she has eclectic, but keen, instincts that often lead to novel, innovative approaches to the work that she does. Her tendency to tread into uncharted territory (intellectually, socially, and professionally) has often helped me expand on and refine my own work. She compels her peers and colleagues to view nuance and multiple perspective, which makes the collaborative process better."

The Type of Women We Don't Need

In 2012 I was selected as Valley High School’s delegate to attend a week-long, all-female, government leadership camp called Alabama Girls State. Anyone who knows me well at all will most likely laugh at this statement, considering politics are the antithesis of how I try to live my life.

Acknowledge the Road You Are On

Some days I put forth just little enough effort to get to the places I’m supposed to be, because that’s all I have left in me to give. Too overcome by what is going on within me to notice what (and who) is around me, and why I’m there, why they’re the...
